BP in Latrobe blows inspection; black filth indicating an over-flowed toilet and not being cleaned, no toilet paper in employee bathroom

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture¬† conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/30/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the BP was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 10 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Microwave was observed with dried food accumulation inside.
  • Cracked floor tile in walk in cooler is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface and in need of repair.
  • Paper towel dispenser at employee hand wash sink in bathroom was not able to dispense paper towels and in need of repair.
  • Employee bathroom floor was observed with wet paper towels on floor, water and black filth indicating an over-flowed toilet and not being cleaned as often as necessary to keep them clean.
  • Coffee dispenser was observed with dried food accumulation under the dispensing mechanism.
  • New food facility in operation more than 90 days and has not employed a certified food employee as required.
  • Mops are not being hung to air dry.
  • Observed black filth and dried food accumulation on floor under storage shelves of the walk in cooler.
  • Observed excessive dust accumulation on condenser vents inside walk in cooler.
  • Toilet tissue is not available in employee bathroom.
