The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 10, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Colonial Quy-Bau Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Inspection request signage not posted at time of inspection. Issued one sign.

  • Both chefs observed with bare hand contact on ready to eat foods during inspection.

  • Insect glue box observed wedged between gap of wall soffit and hood over head food cooking area.

  • 3 times repeat violation: Rodent like droppings observed on floor at front counter area. Facility must have licensed pest control for target pest within the next 10 business days and email ¬†work order to PCWO from day of inspection supplied at time of inspection.

  • 3 times repeat violation:: Dead roach like insects observed in glue boxes and ceiling light shields in kitchen. Remove all used glue boxes and clean and sanitize all affected areas. Facility must have licensed pest control for target pest within the next 10 business days and email work order to MCOPH. PCWO from date of inspection supplied at time of inspection.

  • Employee observed filling drinking water pitcher from hand sink faucet.

  • Pie cutting utensils stored in standing water at front counter area.

  • Facility observed with washed and reused single service pints and quarts. Discarded after one use.

  • Grease and charred accumulation under grill/ stove area. Clean.

  • Far right side inside hood with duct tape patching area. Area must be smooth and cleanable.

  • Loose handing beads of caulking observed in interior of hood. Reseal.
