El Changarro in Bensalem fouls inspection; Heavy presence of fruit flies “Employees are not practicing safe food handling procedures”

The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/24/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations El Changarro was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

All employees must wear a mask at all times as required by the orders of the Governor and the Secretary of Health of PA. Repeated violations may result in regulatory fee of $220 for noncompliance.  New Violation.

Towels are being used in pans with food. This is an unapproved use of linens. Discontinue this practice immediately.

It appears as though some food has been stored in food storage bags. Going forward, do not use plastic shopping bags for food storage.  New Violation.

Sliced steak was stacked high in one pan. This will not allow for quick cooling. Food was separated into two pans and placed in refrigerator for quick cooling below 41°F as required.

Separate portions of food to allow adequate cooling to 41°F or below within four hours or less.  New Violation.

Frozen meat found to be thawing in pan on floor.
Food must be thawed:
-in refrigerator or
-under cold running water so that no portion reaches temperatures above 41°F for more than four hours total, then refrigerated or
-cooked immediately from frozen.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
Heavy presence of fruit flies still evident. Pest control report not submitted as requested.  Repeat Violation.
