“Employee eating in kitchen area on food prep surfaces;” Lansdale’s Blue Dog Pub slapped with 9 violations by Health Department

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 6, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Blue Dog Pub in Lansdale was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed employee eating in kitchen area on food prep surfaces. Employee washed and sanitized work area and washed hands properly. Maintain and do not consume food in food preparation area as to prevent contamination.

  • Cutting boards observed with grooves and discoloration. Replace or resurface.

  • EHS observed some foods uncovered in bain-maries and freezer. All foods must be covered while kept under refrigeration.

  • EHS observed tongs stored on oven door handles. Facility removed to wash, rinse, and sanitize. Store properly between uses

  • Interior of both bain-maries unclean with food like debris. Clean.

  • Small cooler shelves, and fan guards in bain-marie unclean with rust like debris. Clean.

  • Sides of cooking equipment observed with grease like debris. clean immediately.

  • Observed some ceiling tiles throughout with some staining. Replace.

  • Some grease like debris observed on hood filters. Clean.
