The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/24/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Family Dollar was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Two cans with dents to top double seam on retail shelves. Facility voluntarily pulled product to “damages area.”

  • Rodent like droppings observed on floor in corner and along wall at desk area, end of freezer, and under detergent section. Facility must immediately clean and sanitize area. Facility must continue to be treated by professional pest control service. Fax latest and future service reports to MCOPH with in 10 business days. EHS will follow-up on Tuesday 28th to ensure affected areas have been cleaned and sanitized.

  • Spill on bottom on refrigerator in milk section.

  • Shelf facers under beverage bottom on top shelf of refrigerator with mold like accumulation.
