The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/24/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Friendly’s Ice Cream was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
Time/temperature control for safety (TCS) food must be cold held at or below 41ºF. Several items in expediting refrigerated unit were not at proper temperature, ranging from 41-60 °F. Several items in front-of -house prep unit were not at proper temperature, ranging from 42-57 °F. These food items were stacked high in the containers, possibly resulting in elevated temperatures as both units’ ambient temperatures were acceptable. Affected food was discarded. Do not stack past top of container; in expediting unit, fill line should be below interior plastic rim of unit (evident by condensation in containers ). Stacking of sliced turkey should be minimal and product should be spread in layers to cool quickly. Turkey that was prepped today measured at 46-49 °F. Tomatoes in line prep unit measured at 50 °F. Be sure that all time/temperature controlled for safety (TCS) foods are at or below 41°F before placing in top of prep unit. This area maintains temperatures but does not readily lower temperatures.
