The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/22/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Giovanni’s Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

Upon arrival, employees had masks on but only their mouth was covered. Advised all staff that they must wear their masks over their mouth and nose. Employees began correcting immediately.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
The front hand wash sink does not have any soap. The downstairs hand sink does not have any soap or paper towels. Ensure hand sinks are all supplied with soap and paper towels. CFSM went to the store and now soap and paper towels are provided at the hand sinks.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
These areas are unclean:
Slicer blade
Interior of ice machine (remove and discard ice prior to cleaning and then make new ice)

Clean and maintain.  Repeat Violation.

Cheese in the hot holding unit was not at a safe temperature. Hot food must be held at 135°F or above. The cheese was heated on the stove. Ensure the cheese is heated on the stove to the proper temperature and then placed in the hot holding unit to keep it at 135°F or above.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
Food items in the walk in freezer are being stored on the ground. Ensure food items are stored at least 6 inchs from the floor.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 07/22/2020
The hand sink in the basement is leaking. Repair leak.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 07/23/2020
Cans of soup and cheese are opened and stored in refrigerator units. Once a can of food is open the food product must be put in food grade container for storage. CFSM fixed immediately.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
