The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/19/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Godaari Ruchulu Indian Cuisine was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The restaurant has only been found, “In Compliance” one time by the Health Department at its pre-opening inspection in June 2017 according to reporting by The Philadelphia Inquirer:

  • Jun 22, 2017- pre-opening inspection- 3 lower level, “Lack of Good Retail Practices” violations.
  • Jun 26, 2017- opening inspection- 7 violations including 3 food borne illness risk factors.
  • Jul 28, 2017- 16 violations including 6 food borne illness risk factor violations at a routine inspection.
  • Jun 15, 2018- 27 violations including 15 food borne illness risk factor violations at a routine inspection.
  • Nov 28, 2018- 19 violations including 7 food borne illness risk factor violations at a routine inspection.
  • Dec 12, 2018-  4 violations including 3 food borne illness risk factor violations at this reinspection.
  • May 8, 2019- 16 violations including 8 food borne illness risk factor violations at a routine inspection.
  • Aug 29, 2019- 19 violations including 10 food borne illness risk factor violations at a combination routine and complaint inspection.
  • Sep 18, 2019- 4 violations including 2  food borne illness risk factor violations at a reinspection.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility license expired 6/30/20. Submit license renewal fee to PO Box 311 Norristown, PA.

  • Paper towels lacking at front kitchen hand sink. Provide.

  • 2 gallons of milk expired 8/13/20. Facility voluntarily discarded.

  • Date marking lacking on foods in walk-in cooler. All food prepped on site and held longer than 24 hours must be date marked and discarded after 7 days.

  • Bottle of bleach stored in prep sink. Store toxic materials so they cannot contaminate food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single-use items.

  • EHS observed roach-like insect inside scoop used for rice. Facility voluntarily discarded scoop. Maintain professional pest control.

  • Hood filters unclean with grease-like and dust-like buildup. Clean.
