Harleysville McDonald’s fumbles inspection; employees put on gloves without washing hands, changing gloves without washing hands in between glove use

The Montgomery County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 1/27/21. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations McDonald’s Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • EHS observed employees put on gloves without washing hands first. EHS also observed employees changing gloves without washing hands in between glove use. Employees must wash hands before putting gloves on and when changing tasks in order to avoid contamination of the outside of the gloves.

  • Thermometer lacking in reach in cooler containing apples.

  • EHS observed rags not being stored in sanitizer solution in between use.

  • EHS observed food like debris on interior of reach in cooler containing onions & shredded lettuce. Clean/sanitize.

  • Debris on outside of dishwasher. Clean/sanitize.

  • Mop being stored in mop bucket in between use. Hang to dry.
