West Chester, PA 19380

The Chester County Health Department was conducting a planned Change of Ownership inspection at the Wendy’s in West Goshen Township on Friday, December 27, 2019. However, the inspector stopped the inspection due to a lack of hot water at the restaurant and ordered the Wendy’s in West Goshen closed stating:

An inspection was conducted today due to a Change in Ownership. Due to the lack of required hot water temperatures within the building, the facility is hereby required to CEASE & DESIST OPERATIONS IMMEDIATELY.* The facility must close and remain closed until a satisfactory re-inspection is conducted by this Department. Contact the Department to schedule this inspection. When facility is granted permission to re-open due to hot water restoration, a full inspection will take place. License to Operate will not be issued until facility is in compliance with Department regulations.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • There was no hot water at any sinks at time of inspection as water temperature did not peak above 60F. Make repairs to hot water heater. Hot water of at least 100F must be restored to all hand wash sinks and at least 110F at the 3-bay sink. Required hot water temperatures must be maintained during peak hours of operation.
  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
