Health Department plans citation for Pennsburg’s Pizza Como & PC Pub following 7th time repeat violation, fails 7th inspection since January 2017

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 10, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Pizza Como & PC Pub was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found.

Pizza Como & PC Pub has passed one inspection since January 2017:

  • January 18, 2017- 23 violations
  • June 9, 2017- 9 violations
  • January 11, 2018- 8 violations
  • August 13, 2018- 5 violations
  • September 10, 2018- ZERO violations
  • February 6, 2019- 5 violations
  • May 21, 2019- 8 violations

 

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Kitchen hand sink lacking paper towels. Hand sink by dish machine lacking hand soap. Provide.
  • 7 times repeat violation. Date marking lacking on foods in refrigeration. All foods prepped on site and held longer than 24 hours must be date marked and discarded after 7 days. Due to several repeated violations, EHS to discuss further legal action including citation.
  • Digital thermometers in walk-in cooler and freezer not working. Repair or replace. Front retail cooler lacking thermometer. Provide.
  • Shelves in walk-in cooler unclean with food-like buildup. Clean.
