The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture¬† conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/13/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Herminie Diner was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed in-use knives stored between table edges an area not easily cleanable & sanitized.
  • Observed baked potatoes cooling at room temperature in storage area which is not a proper cooling method
  • Prep cooler at elevated temperatures – ham – 56F, cheese – 56F, burger – 65F. All TCS foods discarded and service call placed.
  • Food facility is using Quaternary sanitizer at an extremely high concentration of >500ppm, not approved in the Code of Federal Regulations for food contact sanitizing at this level. One spray bottle too strong. Corrected by diluting. REPEAT VIOLATION (9-18-19)
  • Four spray bottles in kitchen not labeled with the common name of the chemical. Corrected. REPEAT VIOLATION (9-18-19)
  • Prep cooler at 63F. Service call has been placed.
