Here is the reply Tonelli’s put on their Facebook page:

First things first, Tonelli’s corrected every violation within 3 hours of our semi annual inspection. We take our inspections seriously and a lot of people that work at the health department eat here regularly. They told us “You have one of the cleanest kitchens I have ever been in”. Just so you know, all inspections are unannounced and every restaurant fails every single inspection and has violations to correct. It’s the health departments job to find violations and they do a great job. No restaurant passes any inspection or has zero violations. Tonelli’s does have three food safety managers on staff, Maura, Albert, and Rachael see certificates attached. The Health Department only requires one person.

The headline… “8 failed inspections, county warns of legal action….” is called clickbait and a lot of people made this man a lot of money sharing his post and his website. In 26 years never once has the health department threatened Tonelli’s with legal action. It’s a blatant lie so you will click on it and share it.** His post was sadly shared over 25,000 times so he made a killing.(* see editor’s note) It saddened us to read some of the posts and things people wrote. We want to thank all our fans that defended us big time! You would think the man that posted this was reporting from a credible news agency the way he presents himself, but he is working solo out of his apartment in Scranton making money getting you to click and share his garbage. The head of the health department is having the state look into him now, see letter attached.

Thanks again to all our fans that defended us all over Facebook world the last couple of days. For those who trashed let us remind you that Tonelli’s has been serving the community for over 26 years. Tonelli’s has been a pillar of the community and has donated tens of thousands of dollars to youth athletics in Hatboro and Horsham, supporting elementary through High school kids in every sport. The owner of Tonelli’s has also coached soccer, basketball, and baseball for many years until he got cancer and had to hang up his whistle. The owner has 4 kids, one at Simmons elementary, two at Keith Valley, and one at Hatboro Horsham High School. Tonelli’s also employees 42 local people that rely on them to support their families. Anyone that wants a personal tour of the kitchen can call or text Chip or Maura at 215-816-1355 anytime and schedule a walk through. We will even teach you how to make a pizza!
