The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 6, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the King Buffet Chinese Restaurant in Bedford was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed the interior of the Hoshizaki ice machine with a black mold like substance at the top interior of ice bin.
  • Observed meatballs in the walk-in cooler area stored open with no covering. Corrected.
  • Whirl Pool refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen area. Interior of freezer is made of plastic. Plastic was chipping with pieces laying on freezer shelf.
  • bserved the food storage racks in the walk-in cooler. Racks have a accumulation of old food debris and residue a non-food contact surfaces. Racks need cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation.
