The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/31/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Tienda Mexicana Acapulco Mini Market was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 13 violations were found.

The Health Department stated in the report:

Only retail business being conducted. Notation: Due to lack of hot water under pressure in facility, facility must cease sale of pastries and dried chili peppers in front of store until such time as utensils can be properly washed, rinsed, and sanitized.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Current MCOPH license not posted at time of inspection.

  • Inspection request signage not posted at time of inspection.

  • Facility lacking a current MCOPH CFSM. Facility has 20 business days to submit reciprocity application or submit proof of registration in an approved food safety course.

  • Raw eggs stored above ready-to-eat foods in 2-door retail cooler.

  • Unclean cookware stored on top of stove.

  • Fly-like insects observed in kitchen. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH. 

  • Rodent-like droppings observed in kitchen. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH. 

  • Cardboard lining shelves in 2-door retail cooler.

  • 2 times repeat violation: Raw wood shelving used to store food products in retail area. All surfaces must be smooth, continuous, non-porous, and easily cleanable.

  • Stove top and front of stove unclean.

  • Facility lacking hot water under pressure. Facility must restore hot water under pressure within 24 hours.

  • Ceiling tile missing in dining area.

  • Mops not stored hanging or inverted to dry.
