The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an expected follow-up retail food inspection on 7/27/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Apple Castle was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 2 violations were found.
The inspector remarked in the report:
2nd follow up from 6-15-2020 and emergency response due to well water contaminated with ecoli and total coliform.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Found 20 dozen donuts made with contaminated well water in the donut case, all are adulterated, all were removed from the sell to the public and will be given to the owner’s pigs. Facility will use potable water when making donuts in the future for making donuts.
- Food facility is not complying with “Boil Water” advisory issued by the PA Department of Agriculture issued by Tony Arverlo Public Water System, and is using water which does not meet standards for drinking water. 7/13/2020 Ecoli 5 MPN/100MG, Total Coliform 76 MPN/100ML. Facility hired Brook & Proch to disinfect their well water system later today. Reviewed Boil Water Rules with Steven Johnston. Facility set up temporary hand wash sink, closed their public rest rooms and reviewed cleaning and sanitizing dishware and surfaces. Contact me on future developments.
