The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/13/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Chili’s Grill & Bar was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Bartender observed handling ready-to-eat fruit (lemons, pineapple) with bare hands. Discarded.
  • The quaternary ammonia concentration in the sanitizing solution of the 3-bay warewash sink in the bar area was 50ppm, rather than 200ppm as stated on the manufacturers use directions. Solution drained and replaced.
  • Facility does not have written procedures for employees to follow when responding to an event involving vomitus or fecal matter discharge onto surfaces within the facility. Procedure reviewed and handout provided.
  • Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in the storage closet a directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor.
  • Server observed with a band-aid on hand and no glove.
  • Dried food splatter observed on walls and ceiling in dry storage and prep areas.
  • Dried food build-up observed on food-contact surface of onion slicer in prep area.
