The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/20/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations China II was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 12 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Observed common bowls without a handle being used as scoops inside bulk sugar, rice and flour ingredients.
- Observed onions stored directly on the floor in dry storage area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.
- Surface of food prep table in kitchen area, has non-food contact surfaces exposed to splash, spillage, or other food soiling, made of cardboard, an absorbent and rough material which is not easily cleanable.
- Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in dry storage area directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor.
- The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
- Observed build up of static dust and webbing on walls and ceiling throughout facility.
- Observed a build up of residue on the exterior of bulk rice, flour and sugar ingredient storage containers.
- Buildup of old food residue on exterior surfaces of microwave.
- Observed build up of old food residue along the wall adjacent to the food processor/prep table.
- Observed build up of old food residue on outside of refrigerator/freezer in dining room area.
- Food facility does not have available chlorine sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration
- Exterior surfaces of stacked mixing bowls, food contact surface, observed to have old food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
- Interior surfaces of the microwave, food contact surfaces, observed to have old food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
- Food facility has an original certificate posted, but the location is not conspicuous for public viewing.
- Hot water was turned off at the handwash sink in the food prep area. Facility employee turned on hot water at the time of this inspection.
- The handwash sink in the food prep area was blocked by gloves and a mop bucket and not accessible at all times for employee use.
- Observed build up of dirt in handwash sink and is in need of more frequent cleaning.
- Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the food prep area.
- Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the food prep area.
