The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/3/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Giuseppe’s Pizza & Family was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • EHS contacted Hatfield Township Fire Marshal upon observation of Ansul system tag indicating that system was last serviced 10/2019.
  • (2 times repeat violation) Interior of ice machine unclean. Clean and sanitize in accordance with owner’s manual. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.
  • Soda gun holster at bar observed unclean with accumulation. Facility cleaned and sanitized item during inspection.
  • Can opener blade unclean with accumulation. Facility cleaned and sanitized blade during inspection.
  • Drain fly-like insects observed at waitstaff station adjacent to ware washing area. Facility must immediately clean and sanitize area. Facility must be treated by professional pest control service. E-mail completed pest control work order to MCOPH within 10 business days. E-mail report to e-mail address provided at time of inspection.
  • (4 times repeat violation) Facility found to be storing bread ends for toasting in absorbent cardboard material boxes in side prep area directly on floor. Facility voluntarily transferred part of product to food-grade containers and discarded remainder of bread during inspection. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in legal action.
  • Packaged foods stored on floor in basement. Facility elevated items to a minimum of 6 inches from floor during inspection.
  • (3 times repeat violation) Absorbent paper towels found lining pan of burgers in walk-in refrigerator. Facility removed paper towels during inspection. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.
  • Ice scoop stored directly on top of ice machine.
  • (3 times repeat violation) Ice accumulation observed on interior of kitchen walk-in freezer. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.
