The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/17/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Happy Hour Bar and Grill was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Toilet rooms do not have a self-closing door. Install self-closing mechanisms on both restroom doors.
  • The food facility does not employee a certified employee as required. The manager is planning to attend an approved training class. Manager has 90 days to obtain required certification.
  • Cook and bar tender did not wash hands after eating and drinking before returning to food prep and service.
  • Bar tender was observed eating or tasting food in the bar area while also waiting on clients area.
  • The cook had a beverage container in the kitchen and was observed drinking while preparing food. The cook used the straw to stir her drink, touching the end that had been in her mouth and not washing hands before returning to cooking.
  • Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible. Provide thermometers in all refrigeration units in basement.
