The Chester County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/28/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Kennett Square Golf & Country Club was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Food employee observed in kitchen, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as beard covers.
  • In the meat and cheese walk-in refrigerator, raw eggs observed stored above already cooked foods. Relocate immediately.
  • Observed wiping cloths lining pans of scallops in the refrigerator. These are absorbent and are not to be used in contact with food. Remove immediately and comply every day.
  • Foods including tuna, meats, sauces and dressings prepared in the facility observed in walk-in refrigerators with prepared on dates >7 days. Once prepared, foods must be used or discarded within seven days. Foods were discarded on-site.
  • Foods prepared in the facility including cooked pasta and deli salads observed undated. All foods prepared in the facility must be date marked with their prepared on date or discard date. Dating system must be consistent throughout the facility.
  • Halfway House: Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible.
  • Shipping containers observed being reused for other food storage. These are not designed for reuse.
  • Thoroughly clean the following and maintain in clean condition: a. Filters over the charbroiler b. Flooring under equipment in the main kitchen
  • The wash gauge on the mechanical dishmachine is broken and the Department’s thermo label test strip did not turn. No irreversible temperature indicators on-site. Do not use the dishmachine until repairs are made and the unit is operating properly. Provide irreversible test strips for the mechanical dishmachine.
