The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/27/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Landis Supermarket was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 2 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The Landis Supermarket has been found, “Out of Compliance” seven times since April 2017 according to county records:

  • Apr 21, 2017- 1o violations with 6 food borne illness risk factor violations.
  • May 18, 2017- No violations cited for emergency response for report of smoke in the building. 
  • Nov 2, 2017- 6 violations including 2 food borne illness risk factor violations.
  • Jan 12, 2018- 7 violations including 2 food borne illness risk factor violations.
  • Aug 8, 2018- 3 violations including 1 food borne illness risk factor violation.
  • Mar 5, 2019- 6 violations including 2 food borne illness risk factor violations.
  • Aug 8, 2019- 4 violations including 1 food borne illness risk factor violation.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Two dented cans observed on shelf. Facility voluntarily removed.

  • Fly-like insects observed in deli and produce areas.
