The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/8/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Manhattan Bagel was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

There is no food safety manager certified by this Department (CFSM) on duty as required. A CFSM must be on duty at all times the facility is open and/or food is being prepared. A completed application(SA-71)for CFSM, or proof of enrollment in an approved safety class must be submitted to the Department.

CFSM is not training and/or monitoring food employees. Risk factor and critical violations observed during the inspection. CFSM, PIC must review food safety procedures with staff.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 07/08/2020

Ingredients observed on floor in back. Bag was wet from floors being mopped. All food products must be stored at least 6″ from the floor.

Ingredients are on a shelf with soiled floor mat. Store all food products separate from non-food items.

Several products held in refrigeration are not being covered. Cover all products in refrigerators to prevent contamination.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 07/08/2020  

Eggs and cheese in the prep unit are not at a safe temperature. Time/temperature control for safety (TCS) food must be cold held at or below 41ºF. Do not over load containers, watch load limits to ensure foods remain at a safe temperature.  Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 07/08/2020  
Deli meats, cream cheese and lox and other ready to eat time/temperature control for safety (TCS) foods are not being date marked as required.
Refrigerated, ready-to-eat, TCS food prepared and held in a food facility for more than 24 hours shall be clearly marked to be sold or discarded within 7 days or the manufacturers use by date whichever comes first.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 07/08/2020  
Food workers are not wearing hair restraints as required.
Employees shall wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets, that are effectively designed and worn to keep their hair from contacting exposed food; clean equipment, utensils and linens; and unwrapped single-service and single-use articles.  Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 07/08/2020
