The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/2/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Mr. Rick’s Hoagies was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 13 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility lacking CFSM certificate with MCOPH. Facility granted 30 days to apply for new certificate or provide proof of course enrollment to email provided. Application and fee schedule emailed during inspection.

  • Employee beverages stored on prep surfaces.

  • Soap dispenser at hand wash sink empty.

  • Hand was sink found completely obstructed by food wares and with food debris. Hand sink may be used for hand washing only.

  • Loaves of deli meats stored in 2 door refrigerator uncovered inside of a large bus pan.

  • (2 times repeat violation)Facility lacking required discard date marking on prepared and opened TCS foods held in facility under refrigeration longer than 24 hours. Discard date must not exceed 7 days from prep/open date. Facility emailed date marking regulations during inspection. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.

  • Rodent-like droppings observed on shelving at counter area. Facility must clean and sanitize area and have licensed pest control service. Send pest control report to email provided within 10 business days. Pest control report must state treatment of target pest.

  • Food handlers lacking hair restraints.

  • Wet wiping cloths not stored in sanitizer solution between use.

  • Scoop for water ice stored in standing water.

  • Absorbent cloths lining bottom of food prep refrigerator.

  • Facility could not locate quaternary test trips at time of inspection. (tests amount of chemical sanitizer)

  • Mop sink found with food wares stacked inside of basin and obstructing its use. Nothing should be stored inside this sink and sink is to only be used for dumping of waste water.
