The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/1/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Ray’s #1 Pizza was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the Walk in cooler, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened.
  • Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Provide chlorine sanitizer test strips.
  • Deli Slicer, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodents/insect activity in dough mixer/dry storage areas, but facility does not have a pest control program.
  • Observed deeply scored cutting boards (pizza prep station) not resurfaced or discarded as required.
  • Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Observed accumulation of dust/dirt under the food prep tables.
  • Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed faucet leaking at the main hand wash sink.
