The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture  conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/29/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Subway was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • The food facility does not have a functionable handwash sink located in the ware washing area.
  • Sliced pepperoni, salami, ham & turkey were held at 54°F for about 3 hours upon opening, in the front server area, rather than 41°F or below as required. The above mentioned items were discarded and new product was put in its place. CORRECTED ON SITE
  • Interior surface of front display case holding sliced deli meats are not maintaining proper temperature.
  • Black filth, pink slime observed on the interior of the ice machine bin, and underneath at discharge chute. DO NOT USE. Please empty ice machine COMPLETELY!! Wash, Rinse and Sanitize all parts and allow to air dry before refilling. This machine WAS NOT cleaned during the time of this inspection and bagged ice will be utilized until approval is obtained. 3RD REPEAT VIOLATION (3/12/19 & 3/19/19)
