The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/29/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Tang Asian Cuisine was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 16 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed flour being stored in old, re-used raw chicken cases. Flour was voluntarily disposed of at the time of this inspection.
  • Old food residue observed in the handwash sink, indicating uses other than handwashing.
  • Observed buildup of cardboard boxes and equipment/other debris along outside fenced in area of facility.
  • Observed 10-15 rodent droppings in the ware wash area of the facility. Observed 5-10 rodent droppings around the hot water heater in the facility. Observed 10-15 rodent droppings around the chest freezer in kitchen area.
  • Walls in the ware washing area of the food facility observed with buildup of old food residue and is in need of more frequent cleaning.
  • Floor fan being used on the cook line is extremely dirty and dusty, and in need of cleaning.
  • Wall above the single service container storage area of the food facility is dirty and dusty and in need of more frequent cleaning.
  • Rice was held at 67°F, in the glass door refrigerator, rather than 41°F or below as required. Rice was voluntarily disposed of at the time of this inspection.
  • Mops are not being hung to air dry.
  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Raw animal foods were stored above ready to eat foods in the walk in cooler.
  • Common bowls observed being used as scoops in bulk rice ingredients.
  • Interior surfaces of hood system over fryers and rims of hood have build up of encrusted grease.
  • Can opener blade, a food contact surface, was observed to have old food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink.
  • Observed severely watermarked ceiling tiles in the kitchen area and need replaced.
  • Exterior surfaces of microwave observed with an accumulation of old food residue and was not clean to sight or touch.
  • Observed interior surfaces of bottom shelves in bain marie equipment with an accumulation of old food residue and debris on non-food contact surfaces.
  • Restrooms do not have a self-closing door.
