The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/14/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Flying Cow Bakery and Café (Mobile) was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Shards of broken glass found in the back of the deli case.
  • Onions and bags of rolls stored in the sink with spray bottles of cleaner.
  • Tomato sauce is being stored in its original opened can with a loose sheet of plastic wrap over it. Once cans are opened, unused contents must be stored in a sealed container.
  • The cutting board a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • No date marking occurring on ready to eat food items within the food facility.
  • Grill unit and exhaust hood, deli case doors and handles, refrigerator door and handle, floor, walls, and ceiling observed to have a grease, dust, and old food residue accumulation.
  • Cut fries stored in buckets that are grease and grime laden on the exterior of the container.
  • The exterior of the food facility is grease laden, dirty, dusty, and in need of cleaning.
