The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/8/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Yaro Poke Bowl was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Food Facility Person in Charge not able to produce records showing that raw or partially cooked ready to eat fish has been frozen by the facility or approved supplier as required, before use or sale.
  • The handwash sink located in the bathroom area does not have water at a temperature of at least 100°F.
  • Paper towel dispenser empty at the handwash sink in the front prep counter area. Corrected.
  • Food employees observed in kitchen prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers.
  • Water, as observed at front counter prep sinks, are not under pressure during inspection. Facility is manually turning water valves off to prevent leaking. HOT WATER VALVES MUST BE KEPT ON AT ALL TIMES TO ENSURE PROPER HOT WATER FLOW FOR HANDWASHING.*
  • Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.
  • Both handwashing sinks located in the prep counter area have a leak at the faucet and are being turned off under the sink; not proper handwashing procedures. Corrected. THESE SINKS MUST BE TURNED ON AND HAVE HOT WATER GREATER THAN 100F AT ALL TIMES. PIC noted work order has been placed to repair leak at faucet.
  • Soap was not available at the handwash sink in the front prep counter area. Corrected.
