The City of Allentown conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/6/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Allentown Outlet Meat and Produce< was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

This marks the third straight annual inspection the store has been found, “Out of Compliance.”

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Cleaners not meant to be sanitizing agents were reported and observed to be used as a sanitize solution. Dispose of the made up solutions. Thoroughly wash rinse and sanitize any food contact surfaces/utensils that came in contact with this cleaner. Only use NSF approved sanitizers at their recommended concentration for cleaning food contact surfaces. Read manufacturers label to understand what uses a chemical is meant for.
  • A de-greasing agent was being used as a sanitizer in the 3 bay sink behind the deli counter. Refer to the manufacturer label of a cleaning agent to understand its use. Replace with an NSF approved sanitizing agent.
  • Observed a working container of cleaner being used at the meat department 3 bay sink. This item had the manufacturers label peeled off of it. All cleaning chemicals being stored in their original container must have the manufacturers label intact.
  • The hand wash sink at the deli is loosely secured to the wall. Additionally, there is an accumulation of dirt and debris underneath the retail shelves. Re-secure the hand wash sink and clean under the retail shelves.
  • Prepackaged sofrito made on premise is not being labeled with an ingredient list and a use by date. Provide this information on the product.
  • Observed milk stored directly on the floor in walk in cooler, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Place these items at least six inches off the ground.
