The Bucks County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 9/2/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Jersey’s Tomato Pies & Bistro was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

No plexiglass shield or 6 foot barrier is in place at the register area to ensure the safety of customers and cashiers. Provide plexiglass shield or 6 foot barrier.

Some employees face coverings are below their nose. Ensure the face covering is being worn over the mouth and nose. Employees corrected.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/02/2020

The interior of the ice machine is unclean with slime like build up. Discard ice, clean unit and replace with new ice.  Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/02/2020

Cheese, chicken, sliced tomatoes, and other time temperature control for safety foods in the sandwich prep top refrigerator were not at a safe temperature. Time/temperature control for safety (TCS) food must be cold held at or below 41ºF. Several foods were discarded or relocated. Have unit serviced. Do not use this unit until it has been repaired and can hold foods at 41°F or below.

Sausage, cheese, and some other time temperature control for safety foods in the pizza prep refrigerator are not at a safe temperature.

Pizzas on display do not have a time on them when they are to be sold by or discarded. If time–rather than temperature–is used as the public health control the food shall be marked or otherwise identified to indicate the time that is 4 hours past the point in time when the food is removed from temperature control. Employee stated he just made them at 1pm. Advised they must be time marked as soon as they are taken out of the oven. Also, every pizza has to be time marked.  New Violation. Gaskets are torn on the 2 door true refrigerator. Replace gaskets.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/16/2020
There is ice build up on the pipe in the walk in freezer. Repair to ensure no ice build up.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/04/2020
