The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/14/2020 following a complaint. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the JJ Ratigan Brewing Co. was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 2 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector stated:

A complaint was received that staff are not wearing masks. At time of inspection, the EHS observed all staff not wearing masks as required by law. EHS discussed with the Manager on site. If the retail food facility fails to follow directives of the Montgomery County Office of Public Health (OPH) in response to community emergencies as directed in the April 15, 2020 Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Directing Public Health Safety Measures for Businesses Permitted to Maintain In-person Operations and the July 1, 2020 Order of the Secretary of Pennsylvania of Health Requiring Universal Face Coverings, the business will face possible legal action and/or closur

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Hot water faucet at kitchen hand wash sink not working properly – water not flowing under pressure. Must supply hot and cold water at all times. Facility has 24 hours to repair hand wash sink. A re-inspection will occur tomorrow.

  • No chlorine detected at dishwasher in kitchen. Must maintain 50-200 ppm Chlorine. Confirm with test strips. Repair immediately – send invoice to lbrinker@montcopa.org and/or EHS will verify during follow-up inspection tomorrow. *Until repaired sanitize at the 3-comp sink.
