The Chester County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 7, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the KFC-Taco Bell West Whiteland was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Moldy ceiling panels are still present in the basement. Food storage containers are still being stored in the basement. Maintenance has not come to repair any leaks or replace ceiling panels. Remove all paper goods from the basement until leaks have been repaired and moldy panels have been replaced.
  • The entire facility from ceiling to floor needs to be cleaned. Focused cleaning is needed in the following areas: 1. Chicken prep/cooking area including the floor/wall juncture, light fixtures, wheels of the carts and equipment, sides of equipment and shelving 2. Chicken prep walk in – cove base, racks inside 3. Between tables and equipment 4 Inside of all hot holding units, refrigerators and freezers.
  • Food tables and shelving used to hold food containers and ingredients, food trays, speed racks in the chicken walk in, chicken prep table, underside of prep/make tables coated with food debris and dirt. These are potential areas of food cross contamination. Clean these and all other food contact areas.
  • Basement/dry storage area: Paint on walls is peeling and numerous water stained or moldly ceiling panels were observed. This indicates moisture or water leaks into this area. Make all necessary repairs to ensure all floors, wall and ceilings are in good repair. Repair leaks. Replace damaged ceiling panels and resurface walls to be smooth and cleanable.
