The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 6, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Lourdas Greek Taverna in Bryn Mawr was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 10 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Ice machine splash guard unclean.

  • Chemical sanitizing dish machine not recording proper sanitation levels. Facility may not use unit until repaired and given written permission from MCOPH. Send completion work order stating chlorine concentration to MCOPH.

  • Mouse like droppings observed on the floor in basement area. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Air space around back door. (allows access to rodents, insects)

  • Food containers stored on the floor in basement area.

  • Food handler lacking beard restraint

  • 3 times repeat violation- Tong handles stored on oven door handle.

  • Wet mop stored in mop sink.

  • Floor damaged in walk in refrigerator. Facility stated they have scheduled repair.

  • Floor cove base damaged under 3 compartment ware wash sink.
