The Allegheny County Health Department’s Food Safety Program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/28/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Me Lyng Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 10 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Raw shrimp and chicken, 50F in top of prep cooler. Raw scallops, 45F in bottom of prep cooler. Cut Napa cabbage, 57F on prep table.
- Temperature is elevated in prep cooler, 45F. Back of cooler if frozen up. Upright two-door refrigerator in kitchen is down for repair.
- There are no chlorine sanitizer test strips.
There is buildup on the stove top.
Mold forming on the back inside of the ice bin and on the inside of the door.
There are many dead flies in the bottom of the basement Pepsi cooler. - There is no grease trap in the facility.
- There are fruit flies around bags of vegetable on prep table. One housefly was seen near window.
- There is no current food safety certification card on site.
- A box of rice noodles and boxes of take out containers are on the floor in the basement.
- Lid on chest freezer is separating causing heavy frost buildup.
- Floor is greasy under the stove and fryers in the kitchen.
- The health permit expired at the end of last year. Health permit not posted. Post valid health permit in location conspicuous to the public. Payment was made at time of inspection.
