The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 4, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Thai Pepper Mikado Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Raw meat and fish stored over Ready to Eat food items throughout refrigeration.

  • Cutting boards at prep units with discoloration and grooves.

  • Bean sprouts stored outside of refrigeration with internal temperature greater than 41 degrees F. Facility voluntarily discarded 1 container.

  • 2 times repeat violation- Asterisk lacking next to consumer advisory and corresponding food items on menus.

  • Common name label lacking on secondary dry goods container

  • Mouse-like droppings observed on the floor behind bulk ice machine in kitchen. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Roach-like insects observed on traps in dining room side basement area. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • 3 times repeat violation- Food containers stored directly on the floor in walk in refrigeration.

  • Tongs stored on oven door handles.

  • Utensils stored in still water at rice cooker and end of cook line.

  • Tape lining table next to 3 bay sink.
