The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 13, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Miller’s Ale House was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The concentration of chlorine sanitizer in the main bar glass washer is too high. Adjust to reduce concentration to a range between 50 and 100ppm, prior to using this unit for ware washing.  New Violation.
  • Final rinse water temperature in the dish machine in the kitchen is too low. It is 150°F. Thermolabel run through the dish machine did not turn black. Do not use the dish machine for ware washing until the final rinse water is between 180°F and 194°F. In addition, wash water spills out of the entrance to the dish machine onto the soiled dish table. Water also spills through a gap located at the middle handle to the lift door. Repair this unit prior to using it again. Submit verification to this Department that the machine has been repaired and is functioning properly and at required temperatures for both wash and final rinse water temperature.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Ice chute on right side in the large ice maker is not clean. A mold-like substance is forming inside of it. Remove ice and have this entire unit, top and bottom sections, cleaned and sanitized properly. Maintain afterwards.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 01/13/2020
  • Internal temperature of cold time/temperature controlled for safety foods were at unsafe temperatures. Salad dressing in a pour type container was sitting on top of ice in a cold hold unit. It can be used until 3:00pM today and any left at that time is required to be discarded and the container must then be washed rinsed and sanitized prior to using it again. Some water was added to the ice in the cold hold unit enough so that the dispensing containers can be submersed to top of the food product (dressing) level in this unit, as required.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Cleansers are not labeled properly. Cleanser containers that had cleansers in them were labeled “sanitizer”. Make sure that all containers are properly labeled with the common name of the contents in each container.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 01/13/2020
  • There is broken glass in the bottom of one of the glass chillers at the back bar. Remove all items in this unit and clean it thoroughly before returning glasses into it.  New Violation.
