The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 14, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Kelly’s Taproom in Bryn Mawr was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Hand sink in men’s restroom is not metering for at least 15 seconds.
- Food uncovered throughout refrigeration units
- (Repeat x 4) Interior of ice machine in basement is unclean. Failure to comply may lead to further legal action being taken in accordance with law by MCOPH.
- Unlabeled chemical spray bottle observed in kitchen
- Chemicals stored amongst food items and food contact items.
- (Repeat x 3) Facility thawing frozen fish in reduced oxygen packaging environment. Failure to comply may lead to further legal action being taken in accordance with law by MCOPH
- Air space at bottom of door and around door at kitchen exit and upstairs exit door. (allows access to animals and insects)
- Cup used as scoop to obtain food items. (results in hands touching food)
- Lids lacking for dumpster.
- Mop not stored hanging or inverted to dry.
