The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/21/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Bertucci’s Italian Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of XX violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Employee beverage not with lid and straw and on work surface, other in proper container but over work surface. 2 times repeat. The failure to correct and maintain repeat violations could lead to legal action.

  • Paper towels lacking at front pizza oven hand sink.

  • ROP fish packets in under grill refrigeration door observed at 54F. Door was left open 6 inches. Facility voluntarily discarded about 12 packets of salmon. Chicken in lower drawer observed at appropriate temperature. Also discussed removing ROP fish from package before defrosting when package before select statement. No more of that product left to verify the need.

  • Freshly prepared diced tomatoes not properly cooled before being placed in ice bath and ice bath lacking water and ice not coming fully up the side of containers.

  • Fruit / drain fly like insects observed by trash can at front left wait staff area. 2 live roach like insects observed on cove base at ware washing and pizza area. Facility must immediately clean and sanitize area. Facility must be treated by professional pest control service. Fax service report to MCOPH with in 10 business days. Fax to 215-784-5524 or to the email provided.

  • Sanitizer test strips damp and with color change, replacements not available during inspection.

  • Refrigeration door gasket with mold like accumulation on grill area prep refrig, pizza area prep refrig, and main walk-in. Clean and sanitize.

  • Corners / floor with accumulation. Particularly behind ice machine and corners of bar blocked by equipment.

  • Vent / ceiling tiles with dust accumulation by plating area / cooks line in middle.
