The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/17/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations My Girl’s Korner Kitchen was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 17 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility does not have written procedures for employees to follow when responding to an event involving vomitus or fecal matter discharge onto surfaces within the facility. Procedure reviewed and handout furnished.
  • Food thermometer is not scaled to measure to +/- 2°F.Thermometer measured 38F in ice water slurry.
  • Bag of dry pasta observed chewed in the dry storage area. Discarded.
  • Old mouse dropping observed in uncovered bulk container of salt in the dry storage area. Discarded.
  • Old mouse droppings observed in container storing dry pasta. Removed during inspection.
  • Heavy small fly activity observed in dry storage area.
  • Food facility does not employ a certified food employee as required.
  • Base/wall coving missing in rear hallway.
  • Food facility does not have a Health Awareness Reporting Procedure for food employees. Procedure reviewed and handout furnished.
  • Observed bags of sugar, flour and boxes of potatoes food stored directly on the floor in the dry storage and receiving areas rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.
  • Kitchen handwashing sink not sealed to the wall. Observation noted on two previous inspections.
  • Light shield above cook line missing.
  • Employee observed cracking raw shell eggs and not washing hands after.
  • An open employee’s beverage container was observed in prep area. Discarded.
  • Unlabeled chemical spray bottles stored at the servers station.
  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Cooked potatoes, raw chicken, and bulk ingredients in the walk-in cooler and dry storage areas stored open with no coverings.
  • Debris build-up observed on top of chemical dishwasher.
  • Wall in the rear hallway area is made of ceramic tiles. Several are missing or cracked / roughened / and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface.
