The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/10/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Nanos Fried Chicken was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 20 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility operating without a MCOPH license. Facility has 5 business days to submit license application and appropriate fee.

  • Evidence of smoking observed in facility.

  • Lacking single service towels at multiple hand sinks.

  • Facility lacking soap at hand sink in restroom.

  • Hand sink obstructed at time of inspection.

  • Several pre-packaged deserts with sell-by dates of 7/2/20.

  • 2 times repeat violation: Date marking lacking on food containers in refrigeration.

  • Chemical spray bottle lacking label on top of reach-in freezer.

  • Facility lacking visible accurate thermometers in several cold units.

  • Labels lacking on secondary containers in walk-in cooler.

  • Light and airspace at bottom/side of back door.

  • Inspector observed facility using 3-bay ware washing sink for food preparation. Inspector instructed facility on proper use of their sinks. Facility voluntarily corrected.

  • Food handler lacking hair restraint.

  • Wet wiping cloths not stored in a sanitizing solution.

  • Ice cream scoop stored in stagnant water.

  • Ice build-up in several freezers.

  • Unfinished wall behind toilet in public restroom(all surfaces must be smooth/non-porous and easily cleanable).

  • Mop not stored hanging or inverted to dry.

  • Ceiling tiles above register do not meet MCOPH Code. All surfaces must be smooth, continuous, nonporous and easily cleanable. Facility has purchased replacement tiles.

  • Wall unit air conditioner dripping into facility above electrical receptacle.
