Numerous rodent droppings in pet food aisles at Walmart on Grayson Rd outside Harrisburg- warning letter will be issued

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/15/2020 As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Walmart on Grayson RD outside Harrisburg was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 2 violations were found.

The inspector noted in the report:

The purpose of this visit is due to a consumer complaint. Complaint was verified at time of inspection. Discussed the nature of the complaint with Brian Goetz- Comanager.
This facility is out of compliance a follow-up will occur. A warning letter will be issued.

Last pest control service was yesterday, 7/14/20, however observations in this inspection, as well as trap findings, were not noted in the inspection report. New glueboards
were found in the area. Another pest control service is needed for emptying and servicing traps.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Observed numerous rodent droppings on the floor and shelving units in the pet food aisles 27-37 inside the store.
