The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 4, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Oh Byron’s Roast Beef Saloonery was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 13 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • (Repeat violation) Dented cans observed on storage shelf, facility voluntarily removed 2 cans of sauerkraut from shelf.

  • Facility is using prepared dates on prepared TCS ready-to-eat foods held in facility longer than 24 hours. Label should indicate the date by which the food shall be consumed on the premises, sold or discarded; date not to exceed 7 days.

  • (Repeat violation) A gap observed on lower edge of back exit door. (allows access to rodents, animals)

  • Mice like droppings observed on floor under oven in kitchen. Clean and sanitize all affected areas and have licensed pest control service. Send pest control report to MCOPH within 10 business days, email provided. Pest control report must state treatment and target pest.

  • (2 times repeat violation) Interior of the fryer chest freezer observed with frost-like build-up.

  • (Repeat violation) Cinder blocks holding shelf inside walk-in refrigerator (left at entrance). Provide a material that is smooth, nonabsorbent and easily cleanable.

  • (Repeat violation) Mold-like growth observed on door gasket of walk-in refrigerator.

  • (Repeat violation) Dust accumulation observed on filters inside walk-in refrigerator.

  • (Repeat violation) White substance accumulation observed on shelving inside walk-in refrigerator (left at entrance).

  • (Repeat violation) Food debris accumulation observed under shelving inside walk-in refrigerator. Clean.

  • Prep refrigerator in front bar area observed with food debris accumulation. Interior shelving observed rusted and with peeling paint.

  • (Repeat violation) Grease and food debris accumulation observed on floor under deep fryer and cooking equipment in front area.

  • Cracked and loose tiles observe on floor by back exit door.
