Pearl Garden in East Norriton slapped with 11 violations;  Repeat- food uncovered in cooler, vitamins stored on food prep table, lacking proper date-marking

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/16/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Pearl Gardenwas cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Food items uncovered in 2 door reach in cooler by kitchen entrance. (repeat violation)

  • Proper date marking lacking on prepared food items in secondary containers and or packing in cold holding units. (repeat violation)

  • Personal items(vitamins)stored on food prep table. (repeat violation)

  • Metal scrub brush stored in food prep sink. (repeat violation)

  • Food boxes stored on floor in kitchen (repeat violation)-facility had recently received delivery

  • Food handler lacking hair restraints. (repeat violation)

  • Bowl without handle used to obtain dry good product (rice)

  • Tongs stored on wok cooks line pipe line

  • Cloth lining underneath cutting board

  • Mop stored in mop bucket. Invert or hang to dry. (repeat violation)

  • Several non related items stored in basement area (2 times repeat violation)
