The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/11/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Pine View Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed steady leak located upon opening water faucet valves of 3-bay sinks located inside both kitchens.
  • Observed exposed insulation located on ceiling and side walls of room containing walk-in freezer.
  • Containers of dressings/sauces were observed to be held at 51°F, in 2 door cooler of small kitchen area, rather than 41°F or below as required. Thermometer was calibrated at time of inspection. probed internal temperature of drink container to be 51°F. Small sauce containers and 3 larger containers of dressings were discarded voluntarily during time of inspection. Cooler taken out of service until maintenance can be performed on unit and temperature verified.
  • Non-food contact surfaces located inside walk-in cooler not cleaned at adequate frequency to preclude dust, dirt, and soil accumulations.
  • Observed no date mark system or 7-day discard date located on TCS foods prepared within food facility. These foods were located inside the walk-in cooler. *Corrected*
  • The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of the PA Food Code as evident by violations observed in this inspection report.
  • Observed a dark bio-film substance located around water nozzles/bar of large ice machine (located nearest to dish wash unit). *Corrected*
  • Observed numerous rodent-like droppings located on flooring in-between storage shelves of rear dry storage area. Also observed rodent-like droppings on bottom shelving unit of this area.
