The Allegheny County Health Department’s Food Safety Program conducted an expected follow-up food inspection on 6/17/2020 after fumbling a complaint inspection (see story below). As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Pizza Nova was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- A leaking water pipe in the basement is in the process of being repaired. Water is puddled on floor beneath it.
- Fruit flies too numerous to count are present in the ware washing room near the hand sink in the corner.
- The door handle to the walk-in cooler is broken.
- There is a trash receptacle in the ware washing room without a lid. The open container may be contributing to the fruit fly infestation.
- The floor beneath the three compartment sink and the hand sink in the ware washing room is moist and soiled with dirt and food debris. The uncleanliness of the floor and the moisture may be contributing to the fruit fly infestation.
- The health permit is expired.
