The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 17, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Ray’s # 1 Pizza in the Montgomery Mall was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Hot water temperature at common food court women’s toilet room observed at 79-80F; hot water temperature of 100F or above must be provided. Follow-up inspection pending on or after 1/21/20.

  • C02 tanks obstructing access to hand sink in kitchen near the desk.

  • No date markings on facility prepared foods or opened prepared foods (i.e. marinara sauce, pepperoni). Use by date markings, no more than 7 days after opening or preparing foods, are required on ready-to-eat foods or prepared foods, held at the establishment for more than 24 hours and stored under refrigeration.

  • No probe thermometer to take internal temperature of foods.

  • No common ingredient name on bulk flour container.

  • Live roach like insects inside unused soap dispenser at front serving hand sink area. 

  • Clean pizza dough containers stored on top of grease container and adjacent to broom.

  • (3 times repeat violation) Opened can of tomato sauce stored in original packaging container in walk-in refrigerator.
