The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 17, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Golden Bowl Chinese Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 13 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Container of vegetables stored on top of raw chicken in walk-in refrigerator (voluntarily discarded vegetables)

  • Food items sitting out on counter overnight, or for several hours (3 containers of marinated meats and 2 cases of eggs) voluntarily discarded

  • Proper date marking lacking on prepared food items in secondary containers and/or packaging.

  • Rodent-like droppings observed in dry storage area and front counter of facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Food items stored in colanders in cold units

  • Food stored on floor walk-in refrigerator (3 times repeat violation)

  • Foods uncovered in several cold units

  • Some food containers stored under dish machine unit

  • Use of plastic bowl to dispense dry food item. 

  • Rusty racks in walk-in refrigerator

  • Aluminum foil lining on cook line equipment and cardboard lining on shelf and cloth lining on shelves(all must remove)

  • Floors under fryers unclean

  • Filters above cook line equipment unclean
