The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 14, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Phil’s Tavern in Blue Bell was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Hand washing sign lacking at ware wash/prep hand sink
- Rodent-like droppings observed under dish machine corner and both-bottom white shelves next to dish machine. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH.
- Boxes of food stored direct on walk in freezer floor.
- Ice scoops stored directly on the side ledge of ice machine in basement.
- Bottom of the 2 door freezer unclean next to 3 bay (sink.)
- Fan guards in beer walk-in cooler are unclean.
- Mop not stored hanging or inverted to dry.
- Ceiling grate in back prep room with dust buildup.
