“Some mold-like growth observed in ice maker,” Jules Thin Crust fails 8th straight inspection in North Wales

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 7, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Jules Thin Crust North Wales was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Some mold-like growth observed in ice maker. Facility instructed to clean and sanitize in accordance with owner’s manual.

  • Heavily soiled dish towels at pizza prep table wrapped around plastic bins as supports. COS – facility instructed to remove and sanitize prep area.

  • Facility lining sheet pans storing filled piping bags in pizza prep cooler with absorbent dish towels.

  • (2 times repeat violation) Facility fastening climbing rope to speed rack to use as handle to move cart in walk-in refrigerator. Facility must remove rope as it is not an easily cleaned surface. Facility instructed that multiple repeat violations may lead to future immediate legal actions.

  • Pizza paddles throughout facility observed chipped, cracked or otherwise no longer easily cleanable.

  • Food spillage observed along bottom of 1 door reach in freezer.

  • Facility microwave stored in prep area observed with debris / rust on interior of ceiling. Facility instructed to remove from premises if no longer used as part of operation.
